INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS EXPANSIONS WITH CANADA EXPORT CENTRE

As Winston Churchill once said "The question we must ask ourselves is not whether we like or do not like what is going on, but what we are going to do about it." The unrelenting stream of declining economic data is beginning to indicate that while global economies are still on the down slope the rate of decline is abating. Some are thinking that we are approaching the bottom of the economic cycle - and the bottom may not be that far away. The tenuous economic situation is a result of many complicated factors but in essence they stem from shaky domestic factors (in virtually every country) as well as the global slump in exports. YET, business continues. Some businesses are thriving, some are repositioning through opportunistic purchases, mergers and joint ventures and investors are providing financing although not as freely as a few years ago. The Canada Export Centre is practicing what it is advising its clients! - We have become much more global and direct in our day to day reach through a revamped, interactive web-site which features businesses from around the world.
- We've opened six overseas partner offices and plan to open a further six by year end.
- Meanwhile, we have "exported" our physical exhibition hall to our overseas partners who pro-actively generate business for our clients in the selected export markets.
- We've also reduced our fixed operating costs by entering into agreements with our overseas partners. Each member in the Canada Export Centre team is responsible for their own costs but we share revenues where value is contributed to our clients.
Our business has never been more active. We find that our core markets of Asia, Latin America and the Middle East are receptive to our clients' products and services - whether sourced in Canada or elsewhere. Some of our recent successes include sales of honey, engineering services, paper, water, wine, chemicals, waste treatment, lumber, insulation, paint, medical equipment, and introductions of international partners investing in mining, and aerospace and various small businesses. Meanwhile, our affiliated company, Canadian Horizon Capital Corporation, is providing corporate finance services to our clients. Examples, include: - Strategic planning regarding prospective joint venture partners in Europe and Asia
- Raising additional financing through both remaining private and going public means environmental product/service, wind power and original hardwood, Canadian real estate, natural resources including oil and gas and base metals
- Seeking merger partner or purchaser for a Canadian manufacturing business which would be relocated to Asia in advance of an opening market opportunity - aircraft manufacturer
- Working on behalf of several investor groups to identify and short list prospective investment targets.
